Conversation Rules

Due to past hostility between members, we feel it would be in the best interest of the guild to implement a set of rules for the Guild's various chat systems. These are desinged so that we may have the same conversations as before, but without the side effect of alienating our guild mates who do not find our sense of humor amusing, or perhaps even find it offensive.

Guild Chat Rules

Guild chat will be used to discuss the organization of Quests, Instances, Raids, Battlegrounds, Arena Combat, or any other in game system. Also, Guild Chat may be used for general conversations amongst Guild Mates.Guild chat is and has always been pg-13, so please try to keep foul language (ie..f-bombs) to a minimum.

There is a second channel (prophecychat) open for more offensive content. If you feel that your topic of conversation might be considered to be vulgar, you are encouraged to move the topic to the new channel. If you are asked to move the conversation to this channel, please do so.

If there is an issue with something a member of your guild has said in chat, please, first and foremost try and fix the problem yourself. It is not encouraged to ignore your guild mates, as you may end up needing to rely on them in a future raid or instance. If no resolution to a given problem can be found, then bring the situation to an officer to moderate.

Those found to be in violation of the Guild Chat rules may have their ability to talk in the Channel removed for a period of up to one week, and no less than two hours, depending on the severity of the violation.

Ventrilo Rules

Ventrilo is a required program to have for entry to Prophecy. Having a Microphone, however, is not. You are not required to use Ventrilo at all times, but many members of the guild do. This is where most of the socializing of the guild takes place.
There are no rules against profanity or crude humor for Ventrilo. Guild Chat is mandatory and activated upon membership to the guild, Ventrilo is not. If you do not desire to hear the conversation or topic, then you are free to move to another room, or request that the offender(s) do so. Should something a Guild Mate says over Ventrilo truly offend you, you are encouraged to try and resolve the issue with them. If a resolution is not possible, then the situation can be brought to the attention of a guild officer for resolution.

Instance rooms exist for a reason. If you need to have a clear channel to coordinate and instance in, please move your group to one of the instance channels. If you are asked to leave an instance channel, please respect the instance group's wishes.

And as a side note...

These rules are not put into place to try and bring control over the guild, but rather make the guild more enjoyable for all those who join us. Whether or not a member is new, they are in fact, a member, and deserve the same respect as one who has been here since the beginning. We are a guild, and we are here for eachother, to help each other progress in this game. We should treat each other with at least a modicum of common courtesy and respect.
